On September 17, 2023, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) organized the Dumas Beach Fest, a festival focused on cleanliness awareness, waste segregation, and Dumas Beach cleaning. The festival was a success, with over 50 volunteers from the Meghsagar Foundation participating in the Swachh Abhiyan (cleanliness campaign).

SMC Smt. Shalini Agarwal Madam and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ashish Nayak Sir were present at the event, and he awarded the Meghsagar Foundation with a certificate and a plant for their contributions to the Dumas Fest.

The Meghsagar Foundation volunteers conducted awareness sessions on “Zero Plastic Use” and “Segregation of Dry and Wet Waste” for the visitors of Dumas Beach. They also helped to clean up the beach and remove plastic and other waste materials.

The Dumas Beach Fest was a great initiative by the SMC to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and waste segregation. The Meghsagar Foundation is proud to have been a part of this event, and we hope to continue to contribute to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the future.
Importance of Cleanliness and Waste Segregation
Cleanliness and waste segregation are essential for maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment. Plastic pollution is a major problem in India, and it is important to reduce our use of plastic products. When we do use plastic, it is important to dispose of it properly so that it does not end up in our oceans and landfills.

Waste segregation is another important step towards reducing pollution and conserving resources. When we segregate our waste, it can be recycled and reused, which helps to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfills.
